He is Above All.

Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 15:1-16:36, Romans 1:18-32, Psalm 10:1-15, Proverbs 19:6-7

We find ourselves at the starting line of our journey. Before we even begin, I want to encourage you. Athletes are often told to visualize the finish line. And, this morning, I’d like to plant that picture in your mind. Imagine yourself completing a stretch of 26 days where you intentionally set aside a chunk of time for just you and The Lord. Imagine how that would impact your attitude, your relationships, your understanding of who God is. Allow yourself to consider the fruit of purposefully setting aside EVERY distraction for at least 15 minutes a day and focusing all that you are on Christ.

Day 1 — A

1 Chronicles 16:25

Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
He is to be feared above all gods. (NLT)

For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is also to be feared above all gods. (NKJV)

What a perfect beginning. It is a starting point that sets the tone for our entire journey together. Our God is above all. In our lives, He is intended to hold to highest position – in all things. This word “above” means upon, above or over. And, its root is the word alah which means to climb. Today, on Day One of our challenge I’d like to ask you to keep this in mind. Literally, think of placing this intentional time with God each day above all that is in your schedule. Let, this time of reflection, be your preference above all your other to-do’s. Choose to focus your mind and your heart and your soul on who God is above all. Read, learn, ponder, and journal all about Him. And, watch as the things of this world grow dim in comparison to the greatness of our God.

  • Let the power of His Name be placed “upon” all of your circumstances.
  • Pray Scripture “over” all your trials and challenges.
  • Place Him “above” all other things that distract and detour you.
  • “Climb” above everything that weighs you down, and rest in the fullness of who He is.

As we journey, there will be distractions. My prayer for us today is that we would not just start strong but that we would finish the race. Let us fix our eyes on Him for 26 days. Let’s allow His truth to give us the power we need to keep going. Let’s keep pushing on so that we can grow all along the way. Let’s cheer each other on as we journey by sharing our thoughts. Let’s stop and refresh ourselves in the sweet promises of the Lord. Let Him be the most desired pit stop of our race each day. Let’s go, ladies!

My prayer for us today:

Father God,

You are ABOVE ALL. Let it be true in every area of our lives. Lord, reign in every aspect of who we are as women. Refresh our souls with the goodness of all that You are. Revive us along the way. Strengthen us where we are weak. Pour Your love over every dry place in us. Help us when we are tempted to put something else first. Prompt us into this daily time of getting to know You more.

In Your Holy Name, AMEN!

Let this song direct your heart to be “in His presence” today.
